Role:
We are looking for a Project & Process Design Engineer to join our team. You will work with the Technical Lead on wastewater treatment projects through FEED studies and then through detailed design, construction, commissioning, and process demonstration.
The job holder will support and work on the scoping of design packages and the generation of design deliverables such as flow and data sheets, mass-energy balances, P&IDs, control philosophy and performance requirements, start-up and shut-down procedures and so on for proposals, engineering studies and detailed execution projects.
The primary location will be Thatcham (UK) with moderate travel to customer, pilot and commercial sites in UK and abroad to support construction and commissioning, giving you the opportunity to see how your designs are being used by customers.
Main duties and responsibilities:
Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Prepare Process Flow Diagrams, Heat and Mass Balance (HMB), Equipment specifications, Process Descriptions and P&IDs for review and approval
• Demonstrate process at customer sites including process training
• Ensure that detail design methods, standards and data used conform with Client’s requirements and / or those issued by LATW
• Contribute where necessary to review of supplier quotations and reviews of the project 3D CAD model and drawings
• Perform safety related calculations and provide input to HAZOPs, SIL and other safety reviews as directed
• Participate in technical meetings and handle discussions with client engineers
• Assist as required in the preparation of Operating Manuals
• Assisting in the preparation of Strategies and methodologies for Water treatment cases. Pre/Post treatment solutions.
• Responsible for preparation of client’s proposals (technical side); to assess water source /feed and propose pre/post treatments.
Key skills:
The candidate will demonstrate and have the following attributes:
• Bachelor’s degree in chemical / process engineering, or Mechanical with process engineering background.
• Prior experience with the design and delivery of water treatment projects, industrial equipment and/or thermal related equipment (Heat Exchangers, Evaporators, Crystallizers, Scrubbers, Absorbers, Packed Column Design, ….)
• Experience of working on Studies, FEED and EPC projects in the Wastewater, Waste to energy, Desalination, Power, Mining, Environmental, Oil & Gas sectors
• Self-starter with demonstrated ability to execute projects from sales hand-off to field service transfer.
• Experience with Process Flow Diagrams, P&IDs, instrumentation and control.
• Advanced AUTOCAD P&ID skills
• Able to work autonomously as well as in a team and with different cultures
• Always ready to roll up your sleeves and pitch in as required
• Highly entrepreneurial and self-motivated who will thrive in a start-up type environment.
• Expertise in Microsoft suite products including Excel, Project and PowerPoint.
